HELPING
HEARTS &
HANDS

Ch3 Mission Statement:
Cabarrus Helping Hearts and Hands (Ch3) is committed to
facilitating meaningful charitable giving and service opportunities
to involve Cabarrus County employees in improving our
community and providing better lives for residents.

Who We Are:
A committee of Cabarrus County employees, with representatives from each county
department, that meets monthly to plan and implement charitable activities for fellow
employees.

Our PurDose:
. To engage county employees in giving back to the community;
. To raise funds for local non-profit SOl(c) 3 organizations;
. To assist human service agencies (such as DSS) in their public assistance
pursuits;
. To organize service projects in the community, such as drives, walks and work
days;
. To administer an annual campaign fund drive;
. To seek donations of goods to assist individuals in need.

How does Ch3 work?
Cabarrus Helping Hearts and Hands, commonly referred to as Ch3, provides a way for
Cabarrus County employees to come together as a group to support the
community. Ch3 formed in 2004 by employees as a convenient way to make voluntary,
tax deductible contributions to local non-profit organizations with the assurance that
100 percent of funds collected will be dispersed to the selected local charities. In
addition, employees are notified of projects throughout the year to participate in such
as collection drives and volunteer opportunities to assist local non-profit organizations
with specific needs.

Ch3 is operated through an employee-run committee. The committee is made up of
department representatives who work together to make this program as efficient and
practical as possible. The committee meets each month and operates under established
by-laws, policies and procedures. Sub-committees (Walks, Drives, Service and Annual
Campaign) meet throughout the year to review, develop and recommend charitable
projects, such as the school supply drive, painting a Habitat house, or the Helping
Hands Tree.

Who decides where the money Goes?

I-I
