<br />. Used Pill Bottles collected for Kitty City and a nearby indigent clinic <br />. NASCAR Day - Collected $818.68 to these NASCAR Day designated charities: <br />Victory Junction Gang Camp, Speedway Children's Charities, Speediatrics. <br />. School Supply Drive in August collected: 4 large boxes of composition <br />notebooks, 4 large boxes of notebook paper, nearly 100 pocket portfolios, 2 <br />cases of glue and glue sticks, one case of crayons, 2 large cases of <br />pencils/pens/markers, 27 pencil boxes, 14 bookbags, 4 lunchboxes, and an <br />additional number of memo pads/index cards/other miscellaneous supplies <br />. Canned Food Drive at the Cabarrus County Fair collected approximately 10,000 - <br />12,000 Ibs. of food for local food pantries. Fair patrons brought canned goods to <br />gain entry during a designated time period on Sunday, September 11. <br />. Collected Food and Money for Jimmie Murphy's Christmas Dinner. Employees <br />also donated $261 along with a truck-load of food, clothes, and toys in <br />November. <br />. Helping Hands Christmas Tree - collected presents in December for 45 children <br />and adult clients of CYAN, DSS, Cabarrus County Senior Center, and The ARC. <br />. Collected money in December to provide Christmas for a family of four that was <br />burned out of their home. <br /> <br />Service Proiects <br />. Meals on Wheels - volunteers distribute meal throughout the year <br />. Habitat for Humanity Women Build - 20 employees painted the interior of a <br />home in April. <br />. Salvation Army Bell Ringing - Employees donated time to cover numerous shifts <br />over four days in December at Concord Mills <br /> <br />Walks <br />The Walks Committee compiled a list of all Walks/Runs/Rides in the area and developed <br />procedures for the best way to seek involvement by County employees in 2006. The <br />Walks begin in spring and continue through September. Cabarrus County will be <br />represented by teams in these charitable walks throughout 2006. <br /> <br />War Chest <br />The "War Chest" is a discretionary fund collected through the Annual Campaign Drive <br />used to assist Cabarrus County residents during times of catastrophic events such as <br />mass layoffs, natural disasters or home fires. Ch3 committee members unanimously <br />voted to appropriate $3,641.71 of "War Chest" funds to the following <br />agencies: American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Cooperative Christian Ministry. <br />Donations to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army were earmarked for the <br />"most immediate/urgent need in Cabarrus County" and the donations to Cooperative <br />Christian Ministry were earmarked for "heating assistance" to help individuals struggling <br />to pay rising heating costs during the winter months. <br /> <br />I-l <br />
