<br />JUN-SO-2006 12:49PM FROM-CABBARUS COUNTY OSS <br /> <br />+7049201401 <br /> <br />T-701 P.002/00S F-208 <br /> <br /> <br />Cabarrus County Department of Social Services <br /> <br />Memorandum <br />To: Board of Commissioners <br />From: Sandy Russell, Deputy Director ~ <br />Date: 6/30/2006 <br />Re: Establishment of Foreign Language Interpreter II Classification <br /> <br />The agency currently has two foreign language Interpreters to assist staff In serving Spanish <br />speaking clients. <br /> <br />In June 2005, the Office of State Personnel established a new classification, Foreign Language <br />Interpreter II (Grade 63) for health and human services settings where programmatic terminology <br />and protocol requires a higher skill level in interpretation than required in most settings. <br /> <br />Qualifications for this posit/on include a high school diploma and one year of experience in <br />interpreting and translating English and the required foreign language in a setting that requires <br />knowledge of the programs or services. <br /> <br />We are requesting that the Foreign Language Interpreter II (Grade 63) classification be added to <br />the County Classification Schedule. <br /> <br />-:r--I <br />
