<br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br /> <br />Agenda Item # F -B <br /> <br />Meeting Date 6/27/06 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Contract & Funding for Title V Program or SCSEP (Senior Community Service <br />Employment Program), as authorized by the Older Americans Act, through NC Division of <br />Aging & Adult Services & Area Agency on Aging. <br /> <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br /> <br />The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) program is authorized by <br />the Older Americans Act (Title V). SCSEP is administered by the Department of Labor and <br />is available to States to assist eligible individuals age 55 and older to gain competitive jOb <br />skills through temporary subsidized employment and training. The program also assists <br />eligible individuals in directly locating and securing unsubsidized employment with <br />not-for-profit groups and governmental entities such as school districts, state, county, city <br />and federal agencies. <br /> <br />REQUESTED ACTION: (Suggested motion if the Boanl approves the agenda Item 88 ~ <br /> <br />Approval of contract and budget amendment for use of Title V Program funding. and <br />approval of 12 new temporary positions (00195760-9104) to allow the Department of Aging <br />to utilize these funds to subsidize older adult participants while placed with local host <br />agencies for temporary community service assignments and training.
