Murphy, CIRS-A M t,fII <br />June 27, 2006 <br /> <br />Date: <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />Contract, Budget Amendment Request and Temporary Positions for the new <br />Title V - Senior Community Service Employment Program <br /> <br />Enclosed please find the contract with the Centralina Area Agency on Aging for the fiscal year <br />2007 Title V Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) and the Budget <br />Amendment Request form to make the appropriate revisions to the Department of Aging budget <br />to match the actual amount specified in this contract. Funding for this program is currently <br />included in the fiscal year budget and this $2,453 adjustment will correct the projected budget <br />figures to match the actual figures in the attached contract. <br /> <br />Funding from this program will allow the Cabarrus County Department of Aging to administer <br />the Title V SCSEP and provide opportunities to Cabarrus County residents that are 55 years old <br />or older and eligible according to the appropriate federal income requirements to participate in <br />this national employment training and community service program. The Department of Aging <br />will collaborate with several other local govemment departments and non-profit organizations <br />that will serve as host agencies and supervise these temporary, part -time employees as they <br />provide approximately 20 hours of service per week to each agency. We currently have <br />agreements with the Cabarrus County Department of Social Services, Libraries, Parks and <br />Recreation Department, City of Concord Parks and Recreation Department, Coltrane LIFE <br />Center, Employment Security Commission - JobLink Center, American Red Cross, Community <br />Free Clinic and will work with other agencies to make appropriate matches for our clients as <br />necessary. The goal of this program is to provide individual training and/or work experience to <br />allow the clients to develop adequate skills to enable them to secure unsubsidized employment <br />within our community. <br /> <br />On behalf of the Cabarrus County Department of Aging, the various collaborating agencies that <br />will serve as host sites for these clients, as well as the older adults that will benefit from the <br />services provided through the SCSEP, I am asking for your approval of the attached contract and <br />budget amendment.
