Description: Vocational Educational Training is designed to provide a <br />particular curriculum of skills to a recipient in an intensive, relatively short- <br />tenn program to gain them employment in a particular occupational area. For <br />recipients that display the ability and commitment to follow through, it will <br />most likely get them higher wages than they otherwise would realize without <br />the training. It is limited to 12 months. <br />b. Provision: Vocational Education courses of study are offered by the local <br />community college, and would be provided after recommendation by the <br />social worker. <br />c. Contributions to meeting of goals: Vocational Education training will <br />contribute to meeting the following goals: <br />. Employment <br />. Meeting Federal Participation Rates <br />. Providing employment services <br />. Staying off welfare <br />. Job Retention <br />. Prevention of Welfare Dependency <br /> <br />10. Education Directly Related to Employment <br />a. Description: Even though it is the consensus that a high school diploma or <br />GED is a bottom line necessity, and the starting point toward additional <br />training or employment, in some instances, recipients who do not have these <br />may benefit from education that is directly job-related. This would not be <br />common, but an employer may have need of some educational ability that <br />would not require a high school diploma or GED, and could contract with the <br />commutlity college to provide it. The Work First recipient identified could <br />enroll in this program in order to qualify for the job. <br />b. Provision: This activity would be provided by employers who need special <br />abilities and who contract with the community college to provide the needed <br />education to acquire these abilities. <br />c. Contributions to meeting of goals: This educational activity will contribute <br />to meeting the following goals: <br />. Adults entering employment <br />. Meeting both Federal Participation Rates <br />. Providing employment services <br />. Staying off welfare <br /> <br />B. Supportive Services <br /> <br />1. Case Management <br /> <br />~-\'l <br />
