Dubois, Deputy County Manager/Finance Director <br /> <br />Subject: Sheriff and Detention Center (Project) <br /> <br />Due to an appeal filed in court on November 20,2006, Phase II of the Jail project has <br />been delayed. A contract for GMP#3 (precast and steel) was canceled with a fee for <br />services rendered to date of $67,062. Should the vendor continue the project in the <br />future, this fee will be applied to the new contract. Additional funding is being requested <br />($150,000) to cover owner cost of producing bid documents. An amount of $11 0, 180 is <br />requested for change orders required by the City of Concord, which include Change <br />Order #5 for two additional spandrel windows and a grinder pump ($94,311) and Change <br />Order #6 additional site drainage required by City Staff ($15,869). A Contingency is also <br />recommended in the amount of $650,000 as an allowance for life and safety issues <br />concerning the administration foundation and site security, to reconnect/connect <br />waterlines and utilities, temporary parking/sidewalks and a sally port should the balance <br />of the project be delayed past October 2007. These funds would remain in contingency <br />until the Board appropriates these funds for a specified purpose. It is prudent to be <br />prepared for such costs, but should plans change, these funds are available for other <br />Board approved cost associated with the project. <br /> <br />Your approval of the change orders, contingency funds, and budget reversal is requested. <br /> <br />Finance Department <br />P.O.
