<br />Reference Check - SMG <br /> <br />Name of Facility - Palmetto Expo - Convention Center <br /> <br />Location of Facility - Greenville, South Carolina <br /> <br />Person Interviewed - Jim Campbell, City Manager <br /> <br />Type of facility - Exhibition Center - 300,000 sq. feet <br />Conference Center 82,000 sq. feet <br /> <br />Previous Management -Private OwnershiplTextile Hall Corporation <br />- City purchased to keep from closing down <br /> <br />Reason for selecting firm - first choice was Global Spectrum but could not reach <br />agreement. Second choice was SMG. <br /> <br />Length of Contract - Original contract was 2 years with extension options <br />New five year contract recently signed <br /> <br />Satisfaction level- very satisfied with services. Changes were made to original contract <br />with new five (5) year agreement signed. <br /> <br />Consideration of contract extension - yes <br /> <br />Contract Structure/Management Fees - Original Fee was 6% of Food and Beverage - <br />prices were set by SMG and became too high. <br />Present contract is $10,000 a month plus incentives. <br /> <br />Goals met - Starting to improve by streamlining operations and cutting operational costs. <br /> <br />Budget Info - Costs have gone down but still must subsidize budget ($400,000) from <br />Hospitality Tax. <br /> <br />Additional comments - <br /> <br />1. Food and Beverage fees were set too high originally. <br />2. SMG and City work together to identify CIP items and maintenance schedules. <br />3.
