Target Business and Industry Analysis and Strategy <br /> <br />The purpose of this task is to identify promising job-creating economic activities in CabaITus <br />County reflecting growing and emerging clusters of goods-producing and service-producing <br />industries in the greater Charlotte region having applicability to Cabarrus County's location <br />and resources. Specific activities to be undertaken are as follows: <br /> <br />1. Analyze Regional Activities and Trends <br /> <br />Identify growing and expanding business/industry clusters in the greater <br />Charlotte region; identify recent arrivals and expansions by type of business <br />and industry. <br /> <br />Analyze new business leads which Cabarrus County, the Charlotte <br />Partnership, and State of North Carolina have received, including types of <br />business and industry, location criteria, locations selected and rationale. <br /> <br />Review national and regional growth trends in key business and industrial <br />sectors to help identify those having local promise. This will also include <br />analysis of types and sizes of firms which have tendencies to locate in <br />metropolitan counties of similar character and location. <br /> <br />2. Identify and Recommend Target Clusters and Industries <br /> <br />Interview economic development officials and leading commercial and <br />industrial real estate brokers and developers in the area as to the types of <br />business and industry and development trends emerging in the region. <br /> <br />Interview selected (other) site location consultants to obtaioviews on types of <br />business and industry looking at the 1-85 corridor and Charlotte region in <br />general and Cabarrus County in particular and their knowledge and <br />perceptions of the area. Note: Leak-Goforth is a national leader in site <br />location consulting. <br /> <br />Identify regionally relevant clusters and individual types of business and <br />industry (by 4-digit SIC codes and/or 5-digit NAICS codes) for which <br />Cabarrus County is well suited and can become competitive. including <br />profiles of each cluster or type and identification of the operational and <br />quality of life factors in Cabarrus Countywhich favor these clusters and types <br />of business and industry. <br /> <br />D. Land Use and Site Location Analysis and Strategy <br /> <br />Purposes of this task are to identify business/industrial land needs to accommodate future <br />growth opportunities and to promote development of business and industrial parks and sites <br />to support growth. Specific activities to be undertaken are as follows: <br /> <br />Estimate the amount of land needed to support future economic growth in <br />the County, and identify desirable and marketable locations by identified <br />target businesses. and industries. <br /> <br />3 <br />~ <br />
