Participants will gather around tables to formulate their ideas, describing their <br />views on various residential design issues, such as preservation of open space, building design, <br />landscaping, residential compatibility, street design, and tree protection. <br /> <br />Team members will be available on the day after the charrette to discuss the outcome of the public <br />involvement process with County staff and elected officials. This allows everyone involved to refine <br />the project and develop a strategy for the work ahead. <br /> <br />TASK 3: DESIGN STANDARDS <br /> <br />A. DRAFT STANDARDS <br />Following the charrette, team members will analyze all information gathered to date in order to <br />formulate the new residential design standards for both the rural and suburban portions of the <br />County. Draft ordinance language will be prepared and provided to the County for review. The draft <br />will be as graphics-intensive as possible to allow for easy understanding of the concepts. <br /> <br />B. PRESENTATION/OPEN HOUSE <br />Following delivery of the draft language and adequate time for public review, team members will visit <br />Cabarrus County to present the draft to County staff and/ or officials and facilitate an evening open <br />house for community residents. <br /> <br />TASK 4: REVISION OF DESIGN STANDARDS <br /> <br />A. REVISE STANDARDS <br />Based on input from the County and the open house, team members will make appropriate revisions <br />to the ordinance language. Revised ordinance language will be provided to the County. <br /> <br />B. PRESENTATION/OPEN HOUSE <br />Following delivery of the revised language and adequate time for public review, team members will <br />visit Cabarrus County to present revisions to County staff and/or officials and facilitate a final <br />evening open house for community residents. <br /> <br />TASK 5: ADOPTION <br /> <br />A. PUBLIC HEARING DRAFT <br />A complete draft, ready for public review, will be prepared based on input from the County and the <br />final open house. Final editorial revisions will be completed and draft amendments with <br />accompanying illustrations ready for Planning and Zoning Board review will be provided. to the <br />County. <br /> <br />B. PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD HEARING <br />Team members will. facilitate one Planning and. Zoning Board public hearing to . review the draft <br />ordinance language. <br /> <br />C. FINAL ORDINANCE <br />Revisions based on Planning and Zoning Board review will be completed and the final ordinance <br />language with accompanying illustrations ready for review by the Board of County Commissioners <br />will be delivered to the County. <br /> <br />2E - 4- <br />
