As
professional managers of public parks and recreation facilities, Cabarrus County Parks
and Recreation Department wants the citizens to have a safe and pleasurable
experience each and every time they visit our facilities. In a business sense, our parks
should be clean, safe. and appealing to our visitors so we have returning patrons on a
regular basis. The Park Watch program can assist the staff in providing such a service.

As stated in the attached information, the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation
Department and local law enforcement agencies have developed plans for the
implementation of a "Park Watch". program. The Park Watch program is similar to the
neighborhood community watch program, which involves citizens reporting to the local
law enforcement any suspicious or criminal activity occurring in the parks. Citizen
participation in the Park Watch Program conveys a message to potential criminals that
they are 'being watched".

The main purpose of this program is to assist stlilff in reducing vandalism and abuse of
public facilities along with assisting us in making the parks safe and enjoyablefor
citizens to use. The following will be a vital part of the Park Watch Program:

. Park Watch signs throughout each park site
. Brochures explaining purpose/procedures
. General information will be mailed to residents within a short distance of each
park site
. News Articles

\ - 'J..o
