<br />June 15, 2004 <br /> <br />Page <br /> <br />499 <br /> <br />The Soard of Commissioners for the County ofCabarrus 'met in regular <br />session in the Commissioners' Meeting RO.om at the Cabarrus County <br />Governmental Center in Concord, North Carolina on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at <br />6:30 p.m. The Board had changed the date of the regular meeting at its <br />meeting on May 31, 2004. <br /> <br />Present ~ Chairman: Robert M.Freeman <br />Vice Chairman: Richard D. Suggs <br />Commissioners: Carolyn B.Carpenter <br />Robert W. Carruth <br />Coy C. Privette <br /> <br />Also present were John O. Day, County Manager i <br />County Attorney; Frankie F. Bonds, Clerk to the Boardi <br />Deputy Clerk to the Board. <br /> <br />Marilyn D. Porter, <br />and Kay Honeycutt, <br /> <br />Chairman Freeman called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. <br /> <br />Reverend Gene Boe~te gave the invocation. <br /> <br />Lewis williams, Veterans' Service Officer, and three former Prisoners of <br />War led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />(A) APPROVAL OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Vice Chairman <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the minutes -of May 17, <br />(Regular Meeting) and May 24,2004 (Recessed Meeting) as written. <br /> <br />Suggs <br />2004 <br /> <br />(8) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA <br /> <br />UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by conimissi6ner <br />Carpenter and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Agenda with the <br />addition of the following items: (C-6) - Proclamation Designating June 13- <br />19, 2004 as "Concord - All America City Week"; and (C-7) Proclamation -June <br />14 as "The 229th Birthday of the United States Army". <br /> <br />(e) RECOGNITIONS AND PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />(C-l) Retirement Recoqnition of James Faqqart, EMS-Paramedic <br /> <br />David Hampton, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director, recognized <br />James Faggart on . his retirement from EMS and expressed appreciation for his <br />25 years of dedicated service to Cabarrus County. He presented Mr . Faggart <br />with a plaque from the Board of Commissioners and one from EMS. Further, Mr. <br />Faggart's EMS badge was retired. <br /> <br />(C-2) Recoqnition of GIS Manaqer Cathy Cole and GIS Analyst Bill "Fredenberq <br />for Receivinq GIS Professional Certification <br /> <br />Jean Kennedy, Information Technology (IT) Director, recognized Cathy <br />Cole and Bill Fredenberg for receiving a professional certification from the <br />Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certification Institute. She reviewed <br />the numerous educational and' professional requirements that were completed by <br />Ms. Cole and Mr. Fredenberg in order to obtain this certification. <br /> <br />(C-3) Recoqnition of Chasitv Schooley, AQinq Proqrams Coordinator, for <br />Receivinq the Supervisor of the Year Award from the N. . C.. Association of <br />~ <br /> <br />Mike Murphy, Director of Aging Services, presented a Certificate of <br />Recognition to Chasity Schooley for receiving the 2004 Supervisor of the Year <br />Award from the North Carolina Association of Aging. He expressed <br />appreciation .for Ms; Schooley' soutstanding service to. the older adults of <br />Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />(C-4) Recoqnition of Mike Murphy, Director of Aqinq ,Services, and Susan <br />Donaldson, Aqinq Center Manaqer, for Receivinq the Processional Desiqnation <br />of Certified Senior Center Manaqer <br /> <br />E-+ <br />
