CurrenUy <br />a significant number of youth go undetected as a resutt of iack of cohesive screening and assessmen~as per reports <br />from OJJ Probation Officers). Assessments will provlda an accurate picture of the cllenfs substance uaeiabuselssues <br />and nee"ds, and facilitate the linkage of these youth to the needed services in their community. Treatment in the <br />community that involves the family is vital for treatment to be more effective, and prevent placement out of the home. <br /> <br />Target Population <br />Describe the la I lation and sle taken to insure thai Ihe ta el ulation is S8tvad. <br />The target population includes youth ages 7-16 who are exhibiting pre-delinquent, delinquant and undlclplined behaviors <br />that also have substance abuse Issues. Oiverted and DJJ At Risk youth will be considered for services. Services will be <br />author1zed throught the Juvenile Court Counselors. The goal will be to screen all youth referred over the 12 month period of the grant. <br />This poslUon will provide SA assessments for 40 youth during the course of the year, and will provide written <br />recommendations within 21 days of referral. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Priority Community Risk Factor s Addressed <br />State how riOli risk facto s Identinad b the JCPC will b6 addressed. <br />This program will be providing timely Information concerning needs of the client snd the manner in which these needs <br />can be addressed. The services address the priority risk factors of Family Management problems and community drug <br />and alcohol use through determining the appropriate cou"", of treatment. <br /> <br />Protective Factors Utilized (Ex. Haalthy baliars & claar s/andatds, skills, 0 rlunities. 18CO ni/ion <br />Protective factors to address "risk faclors" will include a comprehansive assessmant with specific treatment <br />recommendations focusing on increasing the child and the family's protactiva factors while decraasing the impact of the <br />risk factors the family is facing. <br /> <br />F-+ <br />
