. Chapter Twelve Administration and Enforcement Part II. The Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission. Section 12-15. Establishment of Commission. In order to exercise the powers authorized in General Statute 153A-344 and 153A-345, the Cabarrus County Pianning and Zoning Commission is hereby established. The Commission shall be comprised of nine (9) members appointed by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. Members shall be residents of Cabanus County. Members shall be appointed per the adopted policy of the Board of County Commissioners. Section 12-16. Alternate members. The Board of Commissioners shall also appoint three (3) alternate members to serve on the Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission in the absence, for any cause, of any regular member. Such alternate members shall be appointed for three year terms and shall have an exercise all the powers and duties of a regular member when serving in his or her absence. Section 12-17. Powers of the Commission. The Cabarrus County Planning and Zoning Commission shall have the following duties: -When actin\; as a planning agency. to: (1) Initiate proposed amendments to this order and make recommendations to the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. (2) Prepare studies and plans related to controlling and creating orderly growth and development of the County. (3) Develop and recommend to the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners plans, goals, and objectives as well as policies, ordinances and administrative procedures or other means for carrying out the studies and plans referenced above. (4) Perform any other duties assigned by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners as authorized in General Statute 153A-321. 12-11 H - ~(e.)
