Grist, Director Cabarrus County Board of Elections Filing for the 2004 Candidates for Cabarrus County Register of Deeds and County Commissioners begins on February 9, 2004 at 12 o'clock noon and February 27, 2004 at 12 o'clock noon. This office will need directions in establishing filing fees for the above offices. Pursuant to G.S. 163-107. At the time of filing a Notice of Candidacy for nomination for any legislative or county office each candidate for such office shall pay to the County Board of Elections of the county of their residence a filing fee of one percent of the annual salary of such office: Provided, that all candidates for nomination for any county office operated on a fee basis shall pay to the county board of elections a flat filing fee as follows: county commissioners, ten dollars ($10.00); county board of education, five dollars ($5.00); sheriff, and register of deeds, forty dollars ($40.00), plus one per cent (1%) of the income of the office above four thousand dollars ($4,000.00); and any other county office on a fee basis, twenty dollars ($20.00), plus one per cent (1%) of the income of the office above two thousand dollars ($2,000.00). The filing fees which shall be paid by candidates for a county office operated on a part salary and part fee basis shall be one percent (1%) of the first annual salary received and shall not include any fees received.
