CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> PROCLAMATION HONORING <br /> <br />DANA MOELLER <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, citizen volunteers are one of the most valuable resources of counties <br />throughout the United States, with volunteers of all ages contributing greatly to their local <br />communities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is a nationwide program <br />conducted by Prudential Financial and the National Association of Secondary School Principals <br />to honor young people for outstanding acts ofvolunteerism; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, more than 20,000 high school and middle level students were considered <br />for recognition in this year's awards program; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dana Moeller, a sixth grade student at Harris Road Middle School, has <br />been named as North Carolina's top middle level youth volunteer for 2004, in the ninth annual <br />Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dana earned this prestigious honor by sharing her love of reading with <br />students in two elementary schools, collecting money from neighbors, relatives and others to buy <br />a new book for each of the nearly 700 children at the two elementary schools; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dana represents the best of America's youth and is a role model to other <br />youth as well as the adults in Cabarrus County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dana exemplifies the value of volunteer community service in Cabarms <br />County, justly earning the respect and admiration of fellow students and the entire community. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby commends <br />Dana Moeller on being named as North Carolina's middle level youth volunteer for 2004 in The <br />Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, and expresses sincere appreciation for her outstanding <br />volunteer contribution to our community. <br /> <br />This the 15th day of March, 2004. <br /> <br />Robert M.
