This facility will be a 6-bedroom home for people ~ mental illness.
Residents are indiviclual already residing in Cabarrus County in need of housing. They are clients of
Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare (PBH)

The Menial Health Association (MI-IA) has a 16-year tract record of establishing ~i~ type of housing.
We currently have 8 facilities in Mecklenburg and 1 that will be built In Cabarrus later this year. Our
effort Is strongly supported by numerous partners, including: PBH, HUD, NC General Assembly, and
others. Ti3e facility will De operat~ by PBH or one of their contract providers. The MI-IA will remain as
owners of the physical plant and monitor the sen/Ice within the facility,

Appropriate housing is a large gap in the continuum of mental health services. The MHA and its
collaborators are striving to address this need, Them are approximately 60 individuals in Cabanus
County in current need of this type housing. The downside of ignoring this Issue is ~at those in need
may end up on the streets, In substandard housing, living with ill and aging parents, or worse,

The Commissioners were supported of this effort last year. Do hope they will be willing t= assist again
this year by writing a letter similar to the one attached. John. your help in faollltetlng this support is
greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Attachment

~0/~0 ':lgttcl O0/~HN £LGGGg£t~OL GP :g'[
