Bost, County Extension Director, recognized the followmng <br />representatmves from the Cabarrus County Extension and Community Association <br />(ECA) who were present for the meeting: Jill Lambert (County Council <br />Presmdent), Pam Outen (Extension Agent Liaison) and Pat W~cklmff and Judy <br />Furr (ECA Executive Board members). <br /> <br /> Ms Lambert presented the ECA's 2003 Community Support Award to the <br />Board for its continued support of the ECA. She expressed appreciatmon to <br />the Board for the Arena and ~ents Center and for support of the County <br />Extension office and its staff. <br /> <br />(C-3) Recognition of the Cabarrus County Soil & Water Conservation District <br />and Dennis Testerman on a Successful NC Biq Sweep 2003 <br /> <br /> Ned Hudson, Chamrman of the So~l and Water Conservation Dmstrict, <br />reported over 200 volunteers pmcked up more than 100 bags of trash durmng the <br />2003 North Carolina Waterway Cleanup in Cabarrus County He stated thms <br />accomplishment was recently recognized by NC Big Sweep for outstanding <br />community involvement. Mr Hudson presented a Special Achievement Award to <br />Dennis Testerman, local Big Sweep Coordinator, for his leadership of the <br />successful event. <br /> <br />(D) INFORN~%L PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br /> At 6 58 p m , Chamrman Freeman opened the meeting for Informal Public <br />Comments. He stated each speaker would be limited to three mmnutes <br /> <br /> Barbara Walker, Presmdent of the Concord Do~rntown Development <br />Corporation, read the following resolution: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ware Bonsall Architects, a natmonally expermenced <br />justice center location consultant, has been hired by the <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners to provide site-selectmon <br />and master planning sez-vices for the proposed Justice complex and <br />jail facilities; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ware Bonsall A~chitects has recommended that the Corban <br />Avenue site in downtown Concord be selected for the proposed <br />justice comple~ and 3aml facilitmes; <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Concord Downtown Development <br />Corporation supports Ware Bonsall's selectmon of the Corban <br />Avenue site for construction of the new shermff's offices and <br />3ail facilmty. Concord Downtown Development Corporatmon commends <br />the efforts of Cabarrus County and themr consultants in workmng <br />closely with downtown stakeholders to select a location that wlll <br />enhance the already important role that the justice center plays <br />mn downtown and ms compatible with the Downtown Master Plan. <br /> <br /> The Board of Directors <br />Concord Downtow~ Development Corporation <br /> <br /> <br />
