Harrisburg Kids:Plus is <br />currently at 115 children and ten staff members. <br /> <br /> Despite the closing of Pillowtex in Kannapolis, Kids' Korner still has a long waiting list <br />for afterschool care. For the past twenty years, Kids Komer has served 25 school-age children. <br />Due to many requests from parents and the 80+ children on their waiting list, they decided to <br />take the necessary steps to expand their afterschool program. They conducted a needs assessment <br />in the fall of 2003. Their needs assessment concluded that 13 centers serve the Karmapolis area. <br />Out of the 13 programs, Kids' Komer CDC is one of only two programs rated above three stars. <br />The data also showed that all sites are at capacity in the Kannapolis area. After the assessment, <br />Kids' Komer began its plans for a new gymnasium to be located beside their current facility. <br />They have already pre-enrolled 65 new afterschool children for their fall program. Kids' Korner <br />is currently at 25 children and two staff members. <br /> <br /> OBJECTIVES <br /> <br /> · To expand three school-age care programs for the 2004-05 school year by 125 youth - <br /> Bethel Kids:Plus (35), Harrisburg Kids:Plus (45) and Kids Next Door (45). <br /> · For Bethel Kids:Plus and Kids Next Door to receive a temporary license by July 2004 <br /> <br /> and for Harrisburg Kids:Plus to receive an increase in capacity by July 2004. <br /> PLAN OF ACTION <br /> Bethel Kids:Plus will be housed in the cafeteria at the new school. The cafeteria will be <br /> <br /> licensed to accommodate 100 school-age children ages 5-12. Their new location will have <br /> plenty of natural lighting, office space for parent/teacher conferences, large playground, large <br /> bathroom facilities, water fountains, and running water.
