Meeting Date 8/16/04 <br /> <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br /> <br />Agenda Item <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br />Ordinance Authorizing the County of Cabarrus to use Electronic Means to Provide Public <br />Notice in Lieu of Publication <br /> <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />On 6/13/2002, the Board voted to seek legislation that would allow cities and counties to <br />use the Intemet to post legal advertisements/notices as an alternative to newspapers. At <br />the Board's request, Senator Hartsell introduced the legislation in the General Assembly <br />and Session Law 2003-81 (Senate Bill 425) was enacted on May 27, 2003.
