Freeman, Chairman ,~~ <br />RE: Better Models for Commercial Development <br /> <br />Attached is a publication that describes how design and development standards can be <br />used to improve the quality and appearance of commercial development, particularly that <br />of chain stores and franchises. <br /> <br />The Town of Harrisburg has established a district along HWY 49 that incorporates some <br />of the techniques described in the publication to achieve a better quality of design in that <br />area. The results are obvious. The quality and appearance of the commercial <br />development in Harrisburg is arguably the best in the county. <br /> <br />I think we should consider implementing similar standards in the unincorporated areas of <br />the county, particularly in the commercial areas along HWY 49, HWY 24-27 and HWY <br />73. <br /> <br />Please review Better Models for Commercial Development.
