Meeting Date 8/16/04

CABARRUS COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA ITEM REQUEST

Agenda Item #

SUBJECT:
Employee Charitable Campaign

BRIEF SUMMARY:
Since last year, several discussions have taken place dudng Department Head meetings
regarding the possibility of establishing an Employee Charitable Campaign Fund (the
"Fund"). The basis of the Fund is to allow employees to make contributions which will be
distributed to selected "locus areas" in our community. The employees of the County
would select a committee made up of County employees to award the funds collected
based on established criteria by the employee committee. A more detailed explanation is
attached.

REQUESTED ACTION: (Suggested motion if the Board approves the agenda item as presented)
Endorse, in principle, the establishment of an Employee Charitable Campaign Fund for the
County employees to contribute funds and/or goods to for the betterment of the
community.

Attachments [] Yes [] No Expected Length of Presentation 10 minutes

Submitted By: Pamela S. The local Philip Morris plant serves as an excellent
example. We expect the same would be true here in the county organization.

I strongly endorse the establishment of such a fund. Approval is recommended.

Manager's Signature

Action Taken:
Approved [ ] Deferred [ ]
Denied [] Other []
