Message
Susie Bonds

From: Susan Fearrington
Sent: Tuesday, September 07,200411 :48 AM
To: Shelley Farris
Subject: FW: Annual Kevin Pugh Veteran and Rookie Officer of the Year Awards

-----Original Message-----
From: Brad Riley
Sent: Tuesday, September 07, 2004 10:58 AM
To: Susan Fearrington
Subject: Annual Kevin Pugh Veteran and Rookie Officer of the Year Awards

Susan,

I recently had a telephone conversation with Beverly Pugh, mother of deceased past deputy Kevin Pugh. Mrs. Pugh requested
that I explore the idea of changing the distribution of the Kevin Pugh Award money each year. She stated that she created the
award in honor and memory of her son and that the family wanted to recognize one (1) rookie and and one (1) veteran officer
each year and to provide a decent payment to them. Since interest rates have fallen over the past several years, the interest has
significantly reduced on the amount each officer receives. The Pugh family requests that the county distribute $500 to each officer
annually (a total of $1 ,000 each year) until the fund is depleted. It would take 20 years to deplete the fund, and they are okay with
that arrangement. Any questions you may have, feel free to call me or Mrs. Beverly Pugh at 704-786-5346. Thanks

Sheriff Riley

9/8/2004

í--~
