<br />Resolution No. 2004- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br />SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE <br />KEVIN PUGH OUTSTANDING OFFICER AWARD PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Kevin Pugh served Cabarrus County and its citizens as a Deputy in the <br />Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department until his untimely death; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the family of Kevin Pugh through their generosity, wish to perpetuate the <br />memory of Kevin Pugh by establishing a trust fund with Cabarrus County to award outstanding <br />officers within the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County agrees to maintain and administer the trust fund and awards. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners for Cabarrus County does hereby <br />determine and resolve the foJlowing: <br /> <br />1. The County shall establish through a donation from the family of Kevin Pugh the <br />KEVIN PUGH OUTSTANDING OFFICER AWARD PROGRAM. <br /> <br />2. The donation shall be placed in a separate interest bearing money market account, or <br />similar account, to be maintained and administered by the Cabarrus County Finance Department. <br /> <br />3. The interest earned by the trust fund account shall fund the award program which shall <br />recognize outstanding perf-armance and service to the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department and <br />citizens of Cabarrus County. <br /> <br />3. 4-. Each year two awards in the amount of approximately $500.00 (depending on <br />interest earned by the trust fund account) shall be given to officers of the Cabarrus County <br />Sheriff's Department. One award shall be made to an outstanding first-year officer, and the <br />second award shall be made to an outstanding senior officer. . <br /> <br />4. ~ The selection of the award recipients shall be made by a committee comprised of the <br />Sheriff, the Chief Deputy and Captain of the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department, with input <br />from all division or squad supervisors. Criteria considered by the committee shall be <br />performance evaluations, outstanding individual effort, attitude, demeanor and dedication to the <br />office of Deputy Sheriff <br /> <br />5. 6-. The awards shall be made in July of each year and the officers shall receive the <br />award through the normal county payroll. <br /> <br />F-~ <br />
