~~~
~v ~~
Cabanus County Department of Aging
MEMORANDUM
-- -,
To:
Don Cummings-
Michael L. Murphy, CIRS-A ~,,~
From:
Pc:
Joan Swaringen
Date:
September 28, 2004
Subject:
Fam8y Friends Coordinator Position
Per our earlier conversation regarding this position, I am requesting that we establish a new full
time position (Family Friends Coordinator) for the Cabarrus County Department of Aging. This
position will be responsible for overseeing our Family Friends grant ftom the National Council on
the Aging and Administration on Aging. He/she will also coordinate the volunteer recruitment,
training, retention and recognition portion of our local program while managing the overall
collaborative project that includes the Arc of Cabarrus, Cabarrus County Schools, Cabarrus
Special Olympics, and others. As we discussed earlier, this position will be supervised by Joan
Swaringen as our Volunteer Coordinator.
I realize that this position will only be guaranteed as long as we can secure supplemental funding.
We currently have funding from the Family Friends grant through September 2006. We are
already trying to identity additional resources that will provide sustainability for this position;
therefore, sustaining the program. We have received authorization from the National Council on
the Aging to revise our grant-funding plan for our local project to cover the additional costs
associated with the benefit package for this position based on the figures that you provided me
earlier. We are requesting the addition of this new position as a 00195760-9101 full time position.
As we discussed earlier this Family Friends Coordinator position should be established at Grade
64. Our request is that this position be established until September 30, 2006 with an
understanding that we are trying to secure additional resources to extend this position indefinitely.
The following table represents the salary and benefits for this position as you supplied them to me.
These are the figures that we have budgeted for in our Family Friends grant with a 5% increase
for the second year.
PO Box 707.
