Little, Director <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Grant Request for Camp <br />T.N. Spencer Park. <br /> <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department has requested to the Cabarrus <br />County Board of Commissioners the authority to submit a North Carolina Parks and <br />Recreation Trust Fund (NCPARTF) grant application for improvement funds at Camp <br />T.N. Spencer Park. The North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund program <br />provides dollar-for-dollar grants to local governments. Recipients use the grant to <br />acquire land and/or develop parks and recreational projects that serve the general <br />public. <br /> <br />The following isa brief summary of this grant: <br /> <br />Funding: <br />An applicant can request a maximum of $250,000 and must match the grant, dollar-for- <br />dollar, 50% of the amount requested. The applicant may also contribute more than the <br />50% match. The project must be completed over a two-year period; therefore, county <br />expenditures can also'be allocated over a two-year period. <br /> <br />To allow for a competitive grant application by Cabarrus County, the $250,000 grant <br />request has been recommended. The attached park elements and budget will provide a <br />variety of new recreational opportunities at Camp Spencer Park: picnicking, tent <br />camping, cabin camping, fishing, boating, volleyball and horseshoes. With these types <br />of renovations and improvements, Cabarrus County's grant request may receive a <br />competitive edge for potential grant award. <br /> <br /> Parks and Recreation Department <br />65 Church Street SE · RO.
