WHEREAS, Concord is unique with its two largest traffic generators, <br />Concord Mills and L;owe's Motor Speedway, attracting the majority of their <br />visitors from outside Cabarrus County with Concord Mills attracting over 40% of <br />its shoppers from an ~xcess of 40 miles away--resulting in sizable tax revenues <br />from non-Cabarrus Cbunty property tax payers; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, th~ City of Concord urges the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners to ad6pt the third one-half cent (1/2¢) Local Government Sales <br />and Use Tax to be effective July 1, 2003 to minimize the loss of revenues <br />needed for County and municipal services and to meet growth needs. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council <br />of the City of Concor.¢, North Carolina, supports the adoption of the third one- <br />half cent (1/2¢) sales ~tax within Cabarrus County to become effective on July 1, <br />2003. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Concord City Council in this 27th day of Feb~ary, 2003. <br /> Vickie W~ant, <br /> <br /> <br />
