Bethel Elementary School - Phase 2 Sitework February 27, 2003
QORE Proposal No. 03025 Page 2

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Our presence at the job site and our performance of quality assurance testing must not
be construed as relieving the contractor from his responsibility to comply with the plans
and specifications. Quality assurance testing is conducted on a representative sample of
the construction materials and work performed.
· Our services are not in any way related to job-site safety.
· Our representatives do not have the authority to supervise the work nor to direct
contractor personnel.
· In performing our services, our engineering representatives will use a standard of care
consistent with reasonable and prudent geotechnical engineering practice in the
Cabarrus County area, and will make a conscientious effort to check that the contractor
complies with the contract documents.

ESTIMATED FEES

Using the information available to us, we have estimated the not-to-exceed cost to provide
our services for this project to be $3,540.00. Cabarrus County Schools will only be
invoiced based on the actual work performed at the rates presented in the attached
Unit Fee Schedule. As discussed, actual costs related to construction materials testing and
engineering services will be directly related to the construction methods, schedules used by
the contractor, site conditions, and other factors that we have no control over. We have not
included the time and associated costs for re-testing of failed tests or proofrolling in our
estimate. Therefore, we request that you carefully review the estimated time duration and
quantities and then give us the opportunity to discuss with you any adjustments that may be
needed. In addition, please note that our services (time) are invoiced portal to portal from
our Charlotte Office (estimated roundtrip time 1¼ hours).

SCHEDULING

We request that scheduling of our technicians be provided at least 24 hours prior to our
being on site. It will also be advantageous if we obtain bulk samples of the fill soils three
days before the commencement of placement to complete the laboratory Proctor tests.

INVOICING

As in the past, we understand that Cabarrus County Schools will issue a Purchase Order for
our services. We will invoice for our services on a monthly basis and will not impose late
charges for payments delivered within 45 days of invoice date.
