The building has a generator that was sized to nm one office and the <br />emergency lighting throughout the center. We are proposing to rework the existing <br />electrical panels and add a transfer switch (1200 amp) to accommodate the <br />connection of a larger generator. This will provide the ability to operate the entire <br />facility for use as the shelter. <br /> <br />Cost: $15,000 transfer gear and associated electrical work <br /> <br />To make this facility a fully operational shelter we will need to remodel one of the <br />bathroom areas and include a shower. <br /> <br />Cost: $5,000 <br /> <br />Alternate contact: Dave Hunter - Emergency Planner <br />(704) 920-2401 <br />dhhunter~co.cabarrus.nc.us <br /> <br />Additional note: This is a very important project. This will allow us to set up a <br />permanent location for our Special Needs Shelter. Suitable storage space is available <br />at this location so that we will not have to transport supplies around the county. Also, <br />full time Senior Center/Aging is on hand to assist DSS and the Health Alliance with <br />shelter operations. <br /> <br /> Cost Sharing: County Manager/Board of Commissioners has put a freeze on <br /> capital spending for the next budget year.
