~CASARRUS COt]NP~I <br />1611(# CAHLIIIA <br /> <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Motor sports creates and sustains thousands of local jobs in our regional <br /> economy; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />The Cabarrus Region is the home of motor sports, and Concord is the home of <br />Lowe's Motor Speedway, and Kannapolis is the home of Dale Earnhardt; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />The Cabarrus Region is home to scores of NASCAR Drivers, Racing Teams, <br />Racing Shops and hundreds of other NASCAR related industries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />The WINSTON All Star race has an economic impact on our region in excess of <br />$75 million dollars; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />The Coca Cola 600 is the longest NASCAR race and is held each year at <br />Lowe's Motor Speedway; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Business Leaders, Elected Officials, and Racing Fans all believe the heart and <br /> soul of NASCAR country is here; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Hundreds of thousands of race fans annually attend motor sports events each <br /> year in Cabarms County, North Carolina. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />does hereby proclaim May 2003 as "Motor Sports Month in Cabarrus County" in recognition <br />of the importance of the motor sports industry in our community and throughout the region. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 21st day of April, 2003. <br /> <br />Robert M.
