A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY AS MOTOR SPORTS MONTH <br />BY THE Cb~BARRUS REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE <br /> <br />Whereas, <br /> <br />Whereas, <br /> <br />Whereas, <br /> <br />Whereas, <br /> <br />Whereas, <br /> <br />Whereas, <br /> <br />Whereas, <br /> <br />Now therefore: <br /> <br />Motor sports creates and sustains thousands of local jobs in <br />our regional economy, and; <br /> <br />The Cabarrus Region is the home of motorsports, and Concord <br />is the home of Lowe's Motor Speedway, and Kannapolis is the <br />home of Dale Earnhardt and; <br /> <br />The Cabarrus Region is home to scores of NASCAR Drivers, <br />Racing Teams, Racing Shops and hundreds of other NASCAR <br />related industries, and; <br /> <br />The WINSTON All Star race has an economic impact on our <br />region in excess of $75 million dollars; and <br /> <br />' The Coca Cola 600 is the longest NASCAR race and is held <br />~ each year at Lowe's Motor Speedway; and <br />-*. <br /> <br />i Business Leaders, Elected Officials, and Racing Fans all <br />! believe the heart and soul of NASCAR country is here; and <br /> <br />~Hundreds of thousands of race fans annually attend motor <br />~ sports events each year in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. <br /> <br />~Be it resolved by the Board of Directors of the 'Cabarrus <br />~Regional Chamber of Commerce this 17th day of April 2003, <br />i that the Chamber supports and advocates for proclaiming May <br />~as Motor Sports month and encourages all public bodies to <br />· make such a proclamation. <br /> <br />Cyndie Mynatt <br />Chairman of the Board <br /> <br />John S.
