WHEREAS, the patties to this agreement believe that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Cabarrus, Davidson, Rowan, Stanly and Union Counties that Davidson County be a participating county in Piedmont Area Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance ~buse Authority. NOW, THEREFOliE, BE IT RESOLVED JOINTLY BY THE BOARDS OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF CABARRUS COUNTY, DAVIDSON COUNTY, ROWAN COUNTY, STANLY COUNTY, AND UNION COUNTY that the Joint Resolution of the Boards of County Commissioners of Cabarms, Stanly, and Union Counties dated April 1, 19'74, as amended by the Joint Resolution of the Boards of County Commissioners of Cabarrus, Stanly and Union Counties dated March 31, 1981, and as further amended by the Joint Resolution of the Boards of County Commissioners of Cabarrus, Rowan, Stanly and Union Counties dated October 1, 1997, be amended and restated as follows: Section 1. Effect on Prior Resolutions This resolution is intended to amend and restate the Joint Resolution of the Boards of County Commissioners of Cabarrus, Stanly and Union Counties dated April 1, 1974, as amended by the Jciint Resolution of the Boards of County Commissioners of Cabarrus, Stanly and Uniori Counties dated March 31, 1981, and as further amended by the Joint Resolution of the Boards of County Commissioners of Cabarrus, Stanly, Rowan and Union Counties dated October 1, 1997. Section 2. Establisllment of Piedmont Area Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Authority There is hereby creffied and established pursuant to G.S. Chapter 122C-115 (c) an area mental health, developi'nental disabilities, and substance abuse authority known as Piedmont Area Mental He~th, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Authority (hereinafter som~imes referred to as "Piedmont Area Authority") to provide mental health, developmen~l disabilities, and substance abuse services in Cabarrus County, Davidson County, Rowan County, Stanly County, and Union County. Section 3. Status and Powers and Duties of Piedmont Area Mental Health, Developmental Disabilitiesl and Substance Abuse Authority. Piedmont Area Autl!_-ority shall be a local political subdivision of the State of North Carolina pursuant to G. S. 122C-116 and shall have the powers and duties conferred upon it by G. S. 1/22C-117. Section 4. Structure of Area Board The Area Board of ~iedmont Area Authority shall be composed of 20 members with four from each participating county of the Area Authority with Area Board members and shall be made up accor~ting to the requirements of G.S. 122C-118.1.
