k. During an emergency situation involving the McGuire Nuclear Power <br /> Station the Fire Marshal will: <br /> <br /> (1) Develop a Radiological Protection System in accordance with <br />Federal/State laws and guidelines. Establish a distribution system for radiological <br />protection equipment. <br /> <br /> (2) '~^-'~--~,:~t Coordinate annual training of key personnel involved with <br />radiological monitoring or response. <br /> <br /> (3) Coordinate with the Public Information Officer (PIO) to prepare <br />information briefings during radiological emergencies. <br /> <br /> (4) Establish a network of reporting stations to obtain radiation exposure <br />and contamination rates within the county. <br /> <br /> (5) Provide radiological monitoring support to hazardous materials <br />response teams as needed. <br /> <br />9. Fire Departments <br /> <br /> a. Assist in warning and notifying the affected population of an existing or <br />impending emergency. <br /> <br /> b. Deploy fire-fighting personnel and equipment to conduct fire-fighting and <br />other life-saving operations during emergency situations. <br /> <br /> c. In conjunction with the County Fire Marshal, designate staging areas for <br />mutual aid and volunteer forces responding from other areas. " <br /> <br /> d. Provide rescue and medical support operations to the community during <br />emergency operations. <br /> <br /> e. Provide personnel and equipment to support public warning and traffic <br />control missions. <br /> <br /> f. Support the evacuation of extended care facilities and handicapped or <br />disabled (special needs) individuals as the situation permits. <br /> <br />g. Prevent fires or further damage from fires within evacuated areas. <br /> <br />h. Assist in debris clearance for emergency access to damaged areas. <br /> <br /> i. Assist search and rescue operations. Along with other emergency services, <br />be prepared to conduct or assist in rescue operations of lost individuals and <br />injured/entrapped victims during emergency operations, to include water, low/high level, <br />trench, and confined space rescues.
