16. Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County <br /> <br />a. Control the system accumulating and treating wastewater. <br /> <br /> b. Maintain and make available equipment to support emergency response <br />operations (backhoes, generators, etc.). <br /> <br />17. Director of Public Health/Cabarrus Health Alliance <br /> <br /> a. Develop procedures for emergency public health operations during <br />emergency operations. Coordinate activities to evaluate, detect, prevent, and control <br />communicable disease, waste disposal and vector/vermin control. If practicable, continue <br />inspection of public restaurants/food handling sites during emergency situations. <br />Coordinate support from Piedmont Behavioral Health Care as needed. <br /> <br /> b. Develop mutual aid agreements with surrounding counties to'supplement <br />local public health services support in emergency situations. <br /> <br /> c. Provide laboratory facilities to assist with evaluation of potential <br />contamination. <br /> d. Support shelter operations throughout the county. Provide nursing staff to <br />both public and special needs shelters to assist with medical and medication needs. <br />Inspect food, water, and sanitation facilities in shelters. <br /> <br /> e. Eliminate public health nuisances and imminent hazards pursuant to G.S. <br />130A- 19 and 130A-20. As required, exercise isolation and quarantine authority pursuant <br />to G.S. 130A-145. <br /> <br /> f. Implement emergency health awareness and public information programs <br />through the County Public Information Officer. <br /> <br /> g. During a hazardous materials or radiological release incident, be prepared <br />to provide personnel to assist state agencies in monitoring and gathering of samples from <br />food handling/processing facilities.
