A <br />Battery Plus, from Charlotte, North Carolina, takes batteries from <br /> <br />Intended Actioris: At the present time, the County intends to continue the battery <br />collection prograr L. <br /> <br />6.5 Used Mc tor Oil <br />Current Progran ~: Residents must bring their used motor oil to the landfill for drop <br />off. Used motor c is taken from the landfill by a private firm, Resource Recovery, <br />from Charlotte, N ~rth Carolina. <br /> <br />Intended Actio~ s: At the present time, the County intends to continue the used <br />motor oil collectio r~ program. <br /> <br /> 6.6 Househ~ Id Hazardous Waste <br />Current Progran~.: The County, in conjunction with the City of Concord, developed a <br />permanent white.~o.ods and household h~zardous waste drop-off facility. The facility <br />is within'the city .l~mits of Concord, and provides a more centralized location to allow <br />easier drop-off fo~all municipalities. <br /> <br />Intended Act]or~.: The County intends to continue using the white goods and <br />household hazardous waste drop off facility. Based on need, the County may <br />continue the one ti~rne per year collection day at the county fairgrounds. <br /> <br />6.7 Preventit~n of Illegal Disposal and Management of <br />Litter <br />Illegal Disposal - Operated Sites <br />Current Progran~ The City of Karmapolis has a moderate problem with illegal <br />disposal. The City nvestigates illegal disposal and assesses civil penalties. The <br />County and the Tc tens of Harrisburg, Midland, and Mount Pleasant consider illegal <br />disposal a minor l~roblem and use the Sheriffs Department to investigate. <br /> <br />Intended Action~: County zoning officials and/or solid waste officials will <br />collaborate on the i[llegal disposal issue. Zoning officials may establish fines for illegal <br />disposal. <br /> <br />6.8 Litter Management and Promiscuous Dumping <br />Current Progran~_ The County currently has no governmental litter management <br />program.
