Tourism Authority ,~.11 parties hereto shall co-operate with one another and the North <br />Carolina General AsSembly to seek the enactment of special legislation to amend the <br /> <br />current legislation establishing the Cabarrus County Tour/sm Authority as the General <br /> <br />Assembly may see fit in order to accomplish the following objectives. <br /> <br /> Change the name of the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority to the "Cabarrus <br /> County Convehtion and Arena Authority [the NEW AUTHORITY]; and <br /> <br />The NEW AUTHORITY shall have oversight of the Cabarms Arena and Events <br /> <br />Center, the Co~cord Convention Center and the Cabarrus Convention and Visitors <br /> <br />Bureau. '~=~* .....rResponsibility for oversight of these three operations shall vest <br /> <br />in the NEW AUTHORITY. The NEW AUTHORITY is intended to maximize <br /> <br />cooperation and effectiveness, concentrating efforts to attract tourists, visitors and <br /> <br /> entertaimnent i]p a single entity. <br /> <br /> The appoIntmelit of members of the NEW Authority shall be as follows: <br /> <br />(1) Four members shall be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of <br /> <br />COUNTY and shall include at least one county commz.~s~oner, c,c:nn',:ss:cneI.~ <br /> <br />appointments shall be associated with the hospitality/tourism industry. <br /> <br />(2) Four members [shall be appointed by the City Council of CITY, and shall include <br /> at least one mty elected official and one member associated with the <br /> <br />\counc]1-24822-4 <br /> <br />p. 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
