EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR

ECONOMIC DISASTERS

Cabarms County community agencies have limited amounts of funding from
foundations, local governments, churches, individual contributors, and others to assist
individuals and families in financial crisis situations due to layoffs. Households with
total income up to the following amounts during the past 30 days may be able to receive
assistance:

(200% of the [ )verty le

Family size 1' ' 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Max. Gross $1,496 $2,020 $2,544 $3,066 $3,590 $4,114 $4,638 $5,160
Monthly
Income

Households with gross incomes below these amounts and facing financial crisis situations
should inquire about help that may be available.

To receive assistance, households may not have over $2,000.00 in cash on hand, bank
accounts, or from other readily available sources.

Emergency financial assistance programs are normally for one-time help in any twelve-
month period. Effective 8-11-03, and until further notice, assistance is limited to $600 in
a twelve- month period.*

*NOTE: Total payments in a twelve month period are limited to $1,200, provided
funds sufficient to support this level of assistance are available. Total payment
limits will be set in relation to the amount of funding on hand when the application
is taken. For example, if funds available equal one-half the need projected for all
families, the payment limit will be $600 annually.

Emergency assistance programs can make payments to prevent eviction or foreclosure,
cutoff of electric, water, and other basic utilities, repossession of a car necessary to get to
work or job training, and to provide for medical expenses, prescriptions, health insurance,
car repairs, car insurance, and other costs necessary for work or job training, uniforms
and tools needed for new jobs, and other essential needs.

Income and cash on hand must be verifiable through the following methods that are
applicable in each situation:
a) Pay stubs for all household members
b) Unemployment Benefits Award Letter
c) Most recent bank statement
