The racial breakdown is as <br />follows: 85.9 White, 11.2 Black or African American, and 2.9 Hispanic or Latino, Native <br />American, Other. In 2000, many of the minority concentration areas as well as low- <br />income concentration areas were located near or in the cities and towns in Cabarms <br />County. Map 1, page 8, illustrates concentrations of minority populations which were <br />located in and around the Cities of Concord and Karmapolis. (Census 2000, US Census <br />Bureau) <br /> <br />Between 1990 and 2000, the population of Cabarrus County increased from 98,935 to <br />131,063, an increase of 32.5%.
