Judicial District 19A has a strong and dedicated commitment to the citizens of Cabarrus County.
Not only do we supervise offenders that are placed on probation, we also dedicate many personal
man hours to worthwhile projects that help benefit the people of Cabarms County.

In addition to the Special Olympics projects that are earlier mentioned in this report, we have, as
a team, participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life for which we raised
$1,565.00.

Intensive Probation Officers Dana Nance and David Calloway, in conjunction with the Cabarms
County Sheriff's Department, organized our staff to attend community watch meetings
throughout Cabarms County. In these meetings, we have helped to educate the local citizenry as
to what Probation Officers do and also how we may be able to help them in their endeavors to
keep "watch" over their neighborhood.

We have also joined the Concord Police Department in a Community Drug Intervention Task
Force whereby we assist officers with checkpoints, searches, and in providing any information or
services that we can give. Judicial District 19A Probation Officers also have attended training
classes given to officers of the Concord Police Department. Our officers give short presentations
to these officers educating the law enforcement community as to our job functions, how we can
assist them, information that we can share, and also our limitations in the assistance we can give.

We are continuing to keep the lines of communication open between our department and local
law enforcement by providing information, resources, and staff to further develop and promote
ourselves within the community. We will continue the ongoing process of volunteering,
educating the public and police in a continuing effort to keep the citizens of this county safe and
secure.

20
