NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cabarvus County School Board (the "School Board") owns a vacant lot <br />m the City of Concord, North Carolina, with a street address of 223 Edwards Avenue (the <br />"Property"); <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the School Board intends to convey the Property to Cabarrus County; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Property is surplus property, has little tax value as a vacant lot and the <br />County has no plans to use the Property; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County ~s authorized to make appropriations from its budget to Habitat <br />for Humamty Cabarrus County, Inc., a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to wipe out <br />substandard houmng in this community ("Habitat"); <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County may transfer the property to Habitat by private sale in heu of an <br />appropriation from the County budget; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Habitat wishes to build a home on the lot for one of its deserving families; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the School Board and Habitat have agreed that the vocational students in the <br />Cabarrus County school system will participate m the construction of the house to provide the <br />students with a valuable educational opportunity; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County wishes to transfer the Property to Habitat to promote the public <br />purposes of education and providing affordable decent housing. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, pursuant to NCGS § 161 A-279 and § 161 A-267, the County <br />Manager ts authorized to negotiate and execute all necessary documents to effectuate the transfer <br />of 223 Edwards Avenue, Concord, North Carolina, to Habitat for Humanity Cabarrus County, <br />Inc., to carry out the public purposes set forth hereinabove. The County Manager is further <br />authorized to consummate the transfer of 223 Edwards Avenue, Concord, North Carolina ten (10) <br />days after this resolution has been published tn a local newspaper pursuant to NCGS § 161A-267. <br /> <br />Thru the __ day of October, 2003. <br /> <br />ATTEST' <br /> <br />Robert M.
