Meeting Date <br /> <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br /> <br />12/15/03 <br /> <br />Agenda Item # <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br />Request Four (4) Income Maintenance Caseworker II positions <br />2004 at the Cabarrus County Department Social Services. <br /> <br />effective January 23, <br /> <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The 4 positions are needed to assist with the increase in caseloads as a result of the <br />Pillowtex closing and related economic downturn. FY 2004 funding will be provided by <br />reducing Medicaid Assistance(one-time expense), Federal funding of 50%, and the <br />Community Access Prog. Grant. FY 2005 funding will be provided by Federal funding, the <br />Community Access Prog. Grant (expires 09.30.2005) and county appropriations. If the request is approved, I suggest that the caseloads be reviewed <br />at 12, 18 and 24 months and annually thereafter.
