CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br /> <br />Meeting Date 12/15/03 Agenda Item # ~ ° r7 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br />Remodeling of a portion of the former School Administration Building for use by <br />Rowan-Cabarrus Community College <br /> <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has experienced a large increase in students <br />seeking enrollment in building trade training courses. Many of the enrollees are former <br />Pillowtex workers retraining for new careers. RCCC is desperate for training and <br />instructional space. Currently 33 former Pillowtex employees are on a waiting list for heating <br />and air conditioning training. Over 900 are on a waiting list for Certified Nursing Assistant <br />training. Currently there is no space available for these classes.
