Pitts
Baptist and Roberta are both seeking a temporary license and then will be al3plying for a five star
rating. Rocky River Kids:Plus is akeady a licensed center and will be seeking a five sta~ rating.
With technical assistance, we will be able to move them forward with their rating. All sites will
focus on staffrelations with children and adults as well as, indoor/outdoor environments. Staff
will be encouraged to take child care credential courses at a local community college. Alice
Ward, Director of Roberta United Methodist is nearing completion of her Early childhood
Bachelor's Degree from Pfeiffer University.

We believe this rated license project will be successful with the collaboration between
Cooperative Extension, Child Care Resources, Cabarrus County Schools Kids:Plus program, and
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

This grant proposal will support two areas of emphasis that we are currently working on
in our long-range program of work - Child Care (cElvI?5) and Youth Development (CEMP20).
Our goals will be accomplished by offering training sessions to the three sites involved in the
license project; monthly Advisory Board meetings involving afterschool teachers, 4-H staff with
Cooperative Extension, school officials, officials from three non-profit sites, and representatives
from Child Care Resources.

3
