Food and Beverage Proposal <br /> <br /> Mr. Chappuis reported that Food and Beverage is the single biggest <br /> component in the revenue stream for the Expo. He recommended that the County <br /> hire an outside food service management company to handle the Food and <br /> Beverage operation. This could also include the upfitting of a kitchen at <br /> the facility by the company. <br /> <br /> Mr. Clifton discussed the issue concerning the availability of <br /> alcoholic beverages at the Expo facility. Ee proposed that alcohol be served <br /> onl~ as a part of a catered meal event with t~e food service provider <br /> (caterer) to have the liquor license and be responsible for serving the <br /> alcohol. Further, he reported that Volume Services America (a large food <br /> service provider) has estimated a 46 percent impact on revenue if alcohol <br />· cannot be served a= the facility. This estimate was based on the company's <br /> comparison of four similar'facilities. <br /> <br /> There was brief discussion concerning liability issues associated with <br /> the serving of alcohol. Commissioner Privette asked for a delay in <br /> considering the Food and Beverage proposal to allow time for him =o discuss <br /> the issue with officials in =he State Attorney General's Office. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Privette, seconded by Commissioner Fennel <br /> and unanimously carried, the. Board postponed the Food and Beverage Proposal <br /> for the Expo until the March 18=h meeting. <br /> <br /> Recess Of Meeting <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before =he Board, Chairman <br /> Freeman recessed =he meeting at 10:52 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March <br /> 11, 2002, 'at which time the Board will meet au the Governmental Center <br /> Parking Garage =o travel by van to =he Expo site. After the tour of the F~xpo <br /> project, the Board wily meet at 6:30 p.m. with the Mecklenburg County Board <br /> of Co~missioners for dinner at the Union Street Bistro, 48 A Union Street, <br /> South, Concord. In the event of rain, the =rip to the E~po site will be <br /> cancelled. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
