Both Committees recommended that the Division use any carry
forward funds for next year and the $2.7 million in' new'federal funds to 'adjust the '
allocations of counties who experienced a decrease.in funding. The DiVision will carry
out this request if the federal funds are available but will need information from the
counties which experienced a decrease to determine the exact mount needed. If your
county received a decrease in your initial allocation, please, send a letter or e-mail
message to Nancy Guy in the Subsidy Services Sectionof the Division by July 1, 2002 to
indicate the amount of additional funds needed. Any of the DCD allocated funding that is not spent at the end of the
year will automatically revert. For state level contractors who reverted subsidy funds, '
contract amendments' will not be done 'until the end of the state fiscal year.

Please note that some funding authorizations also include a revision in the amount of the
Smart 'Start funding available to your county. These changes were made'based on
information provided by your local Smart Start partnership via the North Carolina
Partnership for Children.

Please share' this memo with the staff in your agency involved in administering the
Subsidized Child Care Program who are not listed.below.
