Rationale, Goals, and Outcomes

Rationale:

Current teams are practicing on facilities not suitable for games. Many of the current practice facilities
have inadequate fencing, dugouts, and field dimensions. Every effort has been made to reduCe the risk of
injury. With so many teams and so few facilities to practice, seven to 10 days can go by between a teams
practice and game because of trying to accommodate other teams.

Some teams are traveling to fields outside their communities to get in practice times and play games. This
causes participants to spend more time traveling than practicing.

Waiting longer between scheduling practices and games also increase the duration of the playing season.
Current seasons are now starting earlier to allow for more practice and game times due to the lack of
facilities.

This grant will allow for more facilities to be added and will increase the number of practice times and
game slots available. With those additions', the season possibly can be shortened, teams can practice on
adequate facilities, and practice and games will be closer together.

· Goals and Outcomes:

Our goal is to be able to accommodate each team with 2 practices per week before the season begins and to
schedule 2 games per team per week.

Facilities that are safe and baseball functional (dugouts, infields, backstops, etc) will contribute overall to
our program.

We are striving to be able to play baseball during season and not have to start in early March during
possible cold weather just to accommodate the practices and games.

We also have a goal of having teams practice at facilities in their community so that driving distances are
limited.

How successful we are will be determined by the amount of funds allocated to us from our county general
fund, grants that we receive from outside organizations, and in-kind contributions from local businesses
and individuals.
