Hazard Mitigation. <br /> <br /> (1) The County Emergency Management Division participates in scheduled drills <br />with Duke Power and NCEM to practice response activities to a incident at the McGuire facihty. <br />Cabarrus County is considered a "host" county and is prepared to receive evacuees fi:om <br />northeastern Mecklenburg county. Plans exist to control traffic, conduct radiological monitoring <br />and establish shelters for any evacuees. <br /> <br /> (2) There have been no incidents at McGuire Nuclear Power Plant that have <br />affected Cabarrus County. Residents of Cabarrus County would be required to shelter in place <br />during a release of a radiological hazard, if the conditions indicate that the contaminant plume <br />(cloud) would pass over an area of the county.
