Cabarms County Division of Community Corrections has raised $1,211.65 so far this year for
the Special Olympics Torch Run Fund. Chaired by Office Assistant Ollivia Dye and
Probation/Parole Officer II Teresa Rettinger, these individuals have dedicated a great amount of
personal time to chair this project. On April 4, 5, 6, and May 15, 2002, both chairwomen
organized staff with the Cabarrus County Division of Community Corrections to work
concessions at the Intimidators ball field for the baseball games held on those nights. Working
up to five or six hours per night at different concessions, we received 10% of all monies earned
at each booth that a volunteer was working. A combined total of $626.20 was earned for the
Special Olympics fund. Special Olympics t-shirt and hat sales sold by this district netted
$585.45. On Saturday, August 3, 2002, we will be holding .a yard sale at Harrisburg United
Methodist Church on Highway 49 in Harrisburg, North Carolina, to raise additional funds.

4
