Convalescent Stretcher Transport Information and Recommendations Overview: The following represents information that was compiled and reviewed by the EMS management team. The information contained is as accurate as we can provide at this time. We have made an attempt to provide as much information as possible to predict cost to the county based on different options. The information was obtained fi-om Harrisburg reports and in-house data. Objectives: 1. The estimated cost to the county to continue to work under the proposed conditions set forth by a letter that was received from Chief Green dated August 26, 2002. A $90.00 supplement on each non-emergency transport to be paid monthly to Harrisburg Fire and Rescue. Based on approximately 2500 calls per year this would result in a cost to the county of $225,000.00 yearly or $18,750.00 monthly. Bo Cabarrus County would immediately begin maintenance on Harrisburg Fire and Rescue ambulances Based on our average maintenance cost per month on Cabarrus County Ambulances this would result in an approximate cost to the county yearly of $7,512.00 or $626.00 monthly. Based on the above information the cost to the county to keep Harrisburg Fire and Rescue in the non-emergency transport business would be approximately $232,512.00 2. The estimated cost to the county to bring the convalescent service "in-house" and operate it as a county department. We feel there are two (2) possible options in bringing the service in-house 1. Operate a convalescent service in conjunction and coordinated through CCTS and Mid State Transport operating as a franchised entity. 2. Develop a "Convalescent Division" of Cabarrus County EMS 3.Availability of other private transport companies that may be interested in securing a Non-Emergency Transport Franchise within Cabarrus County.
