RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE NC 73 TRANSPORTATION/LAND USE <br /> STUDY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, NC 73 is a major thoroughfare that connects Lincoln, Mecklenburg, and <br />Cabarrus Counties; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, NC 73 is a vital connector for local residential, commercial and industrial <br />development; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, that portion of NC 73 between NC 27 and 1-85 traverses through eight <br />local jurisdictions (Lincoln County, Mecklenburg County, Cabarrus County, Huntersville, <br />Cornelius, Davidson, Kannapolis, and Concord), all of which are experiencing significant <br />amounts of population and traffic growth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is a need to correlate land use and transportation decisions at the <br />local, state and regional levels and to develop a consensus on multi-modal TIP improvements <br />along the Corridor; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a NC 73 Corridor Transportation/Land Use Study is viewed as the most <br />efficient means of addressing these issues and developing this consensus; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the development approval for the Moss Creek includes a $50,000 <br />contribution to this study and the development approval for Cabarrus Crossing includes a $35 per <br />lot contribution, for a total of $10,465, to this study; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of <br />Cabarrus County does hereby pledge an amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) towards the <br />NC 73 Transportation/Land Use Study.
